i'm back plus some news
i've been MIA for awhile and well, the reason is because i've been a bit busy with our new, little addition above. i know i had not mentioned being pregnant so this is a surprise but, due to my past experience (mentioned here) i just couldn't breathe a word of it until his official arrival. needless to say i'm completely in love with this little guy and am enjoying every moment with him and little C. i promise now that things are settling a little, that i will begin posting more often.

Prune
We finally made it to Prune this past week and it was well worth the wait. It was so great getting into the city and having some quiet time with my husband. I already can't wait to go back.

house love
i've loved keri russell ever since her days on 'felicity' - something about her always seemed so down to earth. i feel like her house kind of has the same feel. i love that so much of it is made out of reclaimed wood and objects. and oh, how i do love that chandelier.
see more images of her beautiful home here.

a good reminder
i spotted this from here. it's something i need to hang up and remind myself of on stressful days - which seems to be a bit too often lately.

another book
i must be in the mood to read lately although i can't quite say that i have the time to indulge in all of the reading i'd like. regardless, gabrielle hamilton's book is on my list of the next one to read. i'm a huge fan of her restaurant, "Prune" in NY and cannot wait to get my hands on this and read it in full. if you'd like to read a small excerpt you can go here.

a book and a friend
i was home today working when the mail came and to my surprise i found this beautiful book inside a sweet package. my dear friend (ok, she's more like a sister) sent this to me and i was just so happy and excited and well...it made my day. i loved the book, 'the history of love' that nicole krause also wrote so i'm super excited to read this one. thank you, thank you, thank you dearest k.!
oh, and just to add - the cover of this book is just so, so beautiful in person. the words are raised with beautiful designs on them. it seems that you can only get this cover from the UK stores such as amazon.uk - the US one (in my opinion) just isn't as sweet.

one.
my little c turned one on friday - i can't believe it - i just love her to pieces.
anyway, just wanted to share with you some photos of the invite we made for her. the invite has a series of photos of little c each month from the past 12 months. we actually turned the card into a long photo and framed it as a keepsake.

grateful
it's been terribly cold out lately and we're covered with snow and have had a lot of ice. so this week i'm grateful for a warm bed, hot water and heat. i know i take these things for granted most of the time - but really it's kind of a luxury considering how many people go without one or more of these things daily. i feel like a lucky girl to have them all.

grateful
i think i'm going to start posting things that i'm grateful for occasionally - starting today. the first is the organization, "now i lay me down to sleep." they captured the memories of my first little one - our little boy. i'm forever grateful for them.
that being said - i wanted to also note a second thing that i'm grateful for - my family. especially my little girl. not a moment goes by that i don't realize how terribly lucky i am to have them both in my life.

quote
"There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated
through you into action, and there is only one of you in all time.
This expression is unique, and if you block it,
it will never exist through any other medium; and be lost.
The world will not have it.
It is not your business to determine how good it is,
nor how it compares with other expression.
It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly,
to keep the channel open.
You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate you.
Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased.
There is no satisfaction whatever at any time.
There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction,
a blessed unrest that keeps us marching
and makes us more alive than the others"
